Art progress and some other stuff

Hello, everyone. I hope you've been doing well.

First and foremost, I'd like to announce I have a Patreon now. I figured that was the best place to post small updates and such. More on that at the end.

In my last dev log, I mentioned I wasn't satisfied with HS2 and was planning to change the art to 2D. Since then, I've been practising and experimenting with different art styles to figure out what would work best.

Here's the result of that:

The joke doesn't work If you've seen the thumbnail. Oh, well. Here's the real one:

The protagonist

It won't look like this in the game, but I don't think the style will diverge much. My goal was to find a style that could be done quickly and without much effort. It's not because I'm lazy, although that did influence it a bit, but because I wanted to try something else:

Hey, look. It's moving.

Yes, after a lot of experimentation, I decided that I wanted to add animated sprites. It does increase my work considerably, but I think the results are worth it. Don't expect anything too fancy, though. Animating is hard.

I've posted a few animation tests and other sketches on my Patreon page. You don't need to pay to see them. I'm still figuring stuff out over there, but I plan to post smaller updates, concept art, and things like that. If you decide to join it, you'll have access to exclusive content, early access, test builds, and other stuff that I don't remember. If you don't care for any of that but still want to support me, then I suggest using Buy Me a Coffee. That's the easiest way to fuel my coffee addiction.

That's all I had to say today. Thank you for reading. See you next time.
